Jance does creepy bad guys well

Like all of J.A. Jance's books this one is fast paced and entertaining. Some of the themes, like an Arizona tourist town and an active mother-daughter relationship seem to be reworked from her Joanna Brady mysteries. But that's a minor point.

Jance has created a genuinely creepy serial killer villain in this book and has notched up the thrill factor from her series mysteries, making this a page turner. The sense of place she creates is well done and the characters are mostly well fleshed out. It's a good read.
