Reading Cubs lore, the best way to salve the wounds of an opening day 16-5 defeat

The Cubs got clobbered 16 to 5 on opening day and when that happens, the best medicine for the Cubs fan is to read some of the history of the team. Few people realize that the Cubs actually predate the formation of the National League; they are the longest running franchise in baseball. Therefore, the team has a great deal of history, and a lot of it is positive. Many hall-of-famers have donned the Cubs uniform and many colorful and unusual characters have played for the team, although not always for the better.
This book contains some of the best stories in the lengthy lore that is Cubs baseball. No one could forget the great team that they had in 1969, they should have won the pennant, as is mentioned several times, and that team is the most famous second-place team in the history of sports. If you are a Cubs fan, long suffering or new to the experience, then this is a book that you can't help but enjoy.
