Character development that keeps you addicted to the series

This is the third book in the series, and it's wonderful, gangs and criminals don't seem to be entertaining on first thought but as usual the story line has a theme and plenty of sleuthing to keep it juicy and interesting, before I even got to the end I was all ready rummaging through the shelves of the ocal bookstore for the next in the series, which I'm reading currently.
