Sherry Yard, considered one of the top pastry chefs in the country and executive pastry chef of SPAGO, shares more than recipes in this three hundred eighty-four-page book. With a foreword written by Wolfgang Puck, you know that it’s going to be good. Sherry begins by reflecting on some of the people that inspire her, including her grandmother who taught her how to set a table properly. She talks about using her past to draw inspirations for her dishes. She then goes on to telling about growing up in Brooklyn, NY and how her non-culinary jobs prepared her in ways she never would have realized. She includes recipes such as no-bake cheesecake and rainbow cookies. Chapter by chapter she takes you through her journey, from working in the Rainbow Room to the Tribeca Grill to finally heading out west and working at the Campton Place Hotel and finally ending at Spago. She gives you a look into her day-to-day life in the restaurant, what influences her and gives words of wisdom to aspiring pastry chefs. With vivid words and delicious pictures, Desserts by the Yard is sure to become an instant pastry classic for all to read and enjoy for centuries to come.

Nice review. I wonder how many calories there are in 384 pages? Never mind!
