Lots of Laughs and Five Stars

Amos Lassen

Kage Alan is a wonderful writer. He really knows how to tell a story and this three books prove that. His latest, "Gaylias: Operation Thunderspell" had me laughing all the way through.

Nicholas and Anthony are lovers and also secret agents for the government of the United States. Nicholas is Caucasian and has the strength; he is the fighter and Anthony who is Asian has the brains. Together they are almost unstoppable. Together with another agent, Debora, they have been sent to the Philippines where a new terrorist organization, The League, has been engaged in some very strange and interesting goings on. They were under the impression that they were being sent to a resort only to find out that their location is a S/M theme park, where all of the guests play are either a master (the Asians) or a slave (the Caucasians). Anthony is disguised as a master, while Nicholas is disguised as the slave and subservient to the brutal, The Ball. Their mission is to find out the resort's connection to the terrorist organization and to discover what they are planning to do. They find that they have to battle with a slew of international baddies, and they survived only because they were resourceful. Plus Debora backed them up on every encounter and she knew how to deal with every weapon. I think it is safe to say that she was more of a man then the guys could ever be.

To further complicate everything, there are other secret agents at the resort. Rice and Christian are also there but no one really knows what government they are working for and things turn confusing with bullets being shot, buildings being blown up and helicopters being shot out of the sky. We can't even figure out who is good and who isn't and we don't really care as long as the laughs are there. Nicholas and Anthony are bitchy lovers who are quick to tear each other down as well as doing the same to everyone else.

Nicholas Inker is an outgoing person and a proud fighter who loves to get into it with his partner and Anthony Hamilton who has a passion for truth, justice, and high fashion is a computer genius. They have been together for nine years and things with them, unfortunately, are somewhat mundane so they spend their time lovingly tearing each other to pieces and doing the same, minus the love, to others. They love to irritate each other and Debora has a hard time keeping them at the job.

Kage Alan has a wonderful gift and uses it for our entertainment and benefit. He manages to pull the reader in on the first page and he keeps us involved in the story and laughing, He also gives us wonderful characters with Anthony and Nicholas and he also finely develops his supporting cast. This is the perfect book for summer (or anytime) but make sure you do not read it where others can see you or you will have to explain why you are laughing.
