Pros: great tips, safety advice

Cons: doesn't rate particular products

Well I am a safety finatic so when I was pregnant with my first daughter I went crazy with research. I bought the 4th edition of this book and it was great. It gave ratings of products based on safety, ease of use and durability. The problem with this book is it was published in 1994 which was 2 years earlier than when I bought it so not everything was acurate anymore. So when I was pregnant with my second daughter and discovered there was now a 5th edition published in 1999 I was ecstatic. The 5th edition, however, has a format I like less. It does not give ratings on specific products. It does however very thoroughly give advice on which product you need for your particular need and what to look for in a product when you are shopping. It also covers the options that are available in each product. It features sections on carseats, strollers, high chairs, entertainers, etc.

All in all it is a good and very helpful book but I like the older format better.
