Skateboarding Legend

Tony Hawk is without a doubt the single most influential professional skateboarder of all time. He seems to have done all there is in the skateboarding world- the x-games, tours, owning his own apparel, board, and shoe company, the 900, the loop...you name is Bird-man's done it. But there's more to the story. This book tells about the beginning- before skateboarding was nationally televised and before the x-games were even thought of. Tony Hawk's story began when he was still in school, when skating was the newest fad and street signs with pictures of boards crossed out didn't litter every sidewalk in most major cities across the country. Tony Hawk's life was pretty tame in comparison to a lot of other celebrities, but it's still interesting. It follows him through all of his firsts both personally and professionally. It tells about his success, how he dealt with the changes, becoming a celebrity and everything in between. If you’re interested in an athlete who’s not self absorbed and if you love extreme sports, you’ll find this riveting.  Like everyone, Hawk had to start at the bottom before he made it to the top, and I think everyone can relate to that. The book is definitely worth picking up.
