Quality poetry is more than just making sentences where the sound of a word at the end of one matches the sound of the word at the end of another. Good poetry has a rhythm and a beat to it, as you read it you cannot help but sound the words in your head. Unfortunately, the rhymes in this book don't reach that level, as I read through the poems, it was as if there was a strain to make a rhyme rather than a natural and smooth progression. To further test this, I read some of the poems aloud and there was an awkward sound to them. If I had encountered this book when my daughter was young, I doubt if I would have read it to her.
