I am not-quite-a-beginner in PS Elements. This was the most engaging, entertaining, encouraging "how to" computer book I've ever read. I know how to make minor adjustments in my pictures. I didn't know how to make complex selections, and then how to start "playing" to create anything more arty than the actual image I took with the camera. Now I do. First, this absolutely not a book or Photoshop Elements beginners. It should not be touched by anyone who lacks a slightly more than basic familiarity with any version of Photoshop Elements 3 through 7.
