Helpful advanced Lightroom information

If you use Lightroom a lot and want to go beyond the basics, this book has some good information. The first chapter contains a short introduction to Lightroom that covers a lot of ground quickly. The second offers a what's new view. After that, there is a lot of stuff that you won't find in an introductory Lightroom manual.

Instruction is general and conceptual. You won't find the tutorial cookbook approach steps common in Scott Kelby's photo editing books. Those are very helpful for the novice but are often skimmed by more advanced photographers.

Richard Earney shares his personal Lightroom workflow, mentioning individual components of the program that he uses. Descriptions are not in-depth but then Inside Lightroom is not a thick and heavy doorstop of a book.

I wouldn't recommend this volume as an introduction to Lightroom. The subtitle, "The serious photographer's guide to Lightroom efficiency," tell us that this book is not intended for beginners. If you have a basic comfort level with Lightroom then Inside Lightroom does give good advice for workflow as well as a look at Lightroom's more advanced features.
