Sam's has done a few of these "Phrasebok" style books - small, pocketbook size, relatively short. This doesn't replace O'Reilly's "Javascript - the Definitive Guide" (and there is some overlap), but it's a handly little thing to augment it.    It's all short code examples, with explanations.
