This sturdy, vibrantly illustrated book about creatures that come out in the night is sure to enchant young children. What pops out when you open each page are the delightful animations, that exhibit night animals in action -- flying, leaping, howling or waving their sinuous tail as the page opens or closes. It's a neat effect, that kids will love and that I enjoyed quite a bit. The animation is just a small part of each two page section, and fits into a much larger picture depicting one or two …

This book exceeded expectations as soon as I opened it.    With a little one on the way myself, I've been building the bedtime reading library. I've years of professional experience through nannying and childcare, in addition to be the oldest of 7, so I've had a lot of time to spot what makes up a great night time read.    This book qualifies.    The simple rhyming is perfect for the young pre-reader and matches well with the images provided. …

Accord Press' Animotion series of books are a joy to read and explore but I particularly enjoy this one especially for bedtime. "Lights Out, Night's Out" is a cute story of animals once the sun goes down. Each page has an animotion picture along with nicely written verse.    The Animotion specifically used in this series of books was developed by Jeff Cole, Accord's in-house paper engineer, with help from designer Heather Brown, the animation technology of AniMotion (patent pending) …

The production of this book is wonderful-- the illustrations are lush and detailed, and I really enjoyed just looking and admiring them. Oddly (to me), my 2 1/2-year-old was not as enchanted with the "animotion" as I was. I kept flipping the pages around to watch the movements, but she didn't encourage me to do it again... and she's normally a pretty enthusiastic kid!     I didn't agree with previous reviewers' concerns about the book being scary; the only illustration I can …
