Pros: cute, educational

Cons: nothing

My 3.5 year old daughter and I recently checked this book out at the library. The book is absolutely adorable and my daughter wanted to read it again and again. She originally chose this book, actually, because of the purple plastic purse, purple is her favorite color and what girl doesn't love purses. This is one of the initial appeals. The main character Lilly is adorable and this keeps the appeal. It also involves school, which to many younger kids is a fascinating topic that always holds their attention. I loved the story because it deals with things that may be familiar to a child, conflicting emotions, presents, wanting to show off. It also shows great ways to deal with all this. It also goes over relationships with adults. And all in all, despite the ill feelings after her "bad day", it still portrays teachers in a positive manner. This I feel is something that young children should be shown, that teachers are nice and our friends, a lifelong lesson, best started early.
