A history of England for the years 1066-1485

  • Aug 29, 2008
Although there is mention of events in Europe and Asia on the edge of Europe, this book is primarily a history of England. To the extent that other areas are mentioned, it is due to the consequences of what was happening in England. For example, after the invasion by the Viking raiders, there is mention of the Viking expeditions westward to Iceland, Greenland and the east coast of the North American continent.
The level of exposition is that of the late elementary school or early middle school student. There are a few color illustrations and a large number of black and white images. The depth of the coverage is satisfactory for the target audience, but it is not deep enough for a more sophisticated one. There is very little in the way of analysis of the causes of the major events, which is the most significant purpose of history.
