Lucid Waking is an odyssey through philosophical thought and how it connects to mindfulness in everyday life. The book begins by sharing how the author came to start asking questions about spirituality and how he first became interested in philosophy. Like most of us in the west, his explorations began with common known western philosophers and their ideas. Then, as time went on, he found himself looking into and trying to understand eastern philosophy and ways of being.

Lucid Waking is densely packed with commentary on a variety of topics such as what is spirit, other ways of knowing, self actualization, and higher consciousness. I have to say that this is not exactly a Sunday afternoon read. Nonetheless, devoted spiritual seekers will find the work very valuable not only for the content but also for the questions raised in each section.
