Author Sheila Murray Bethel became a mentor of mine when we were in the National Speakers Association. Sheila is the real deal. She knows leadership cold and the importance of success planning. Every single senator, congress person, and political leader would learn how to be a more authentic leader and role model by reading Making a Difference: 12 Qualities that Make You a Leader. Imagine a leadership recipe that you can follow. Sheila write with clarity, purpose and not one extra word, story, or unnecessary explanation. She believes in her readers' intelligence and honors the journeys they have already taken.

good review, I'm curious myself to check out this book. What makes it different from other self-help type books like The power of thinking big?
NYWriterBarbaraGarroMay 26, 2009
True leadership permeates an individual. Thinking "big" is about going after large things rather than small things. Leadership is always on, small, big and everything in between. True leadership is more about servant-leaders than about millionaire and billionaire leaders. We have seen the sham of some of their leadership. Good leaders are also good people.
good point, I like the idea of "servant-leaders," people looking out for those they are trying to help.

Jesus, the Christ, the absolute perfect servant-leader, leaves a legacy I can understand, but have a hard time following, although I have washed feet and the spiritual connection experience cannot be described, even by this writer.
As a mentee of Sheila, I can tell you perfect professionalism is one of her directives, always be the person you intend to be, take the time to stay tuned to your authenticity, and tell the truth each time and every time.

Wow, some pretty lofty yet simple goals. I just discovered how to reply to a comment. You can use the reply icon that should be right under the Luncher's name. I guess it keeps the threads tidier. Just thought I'd pass that along, and thanks for Lunching about Leadership, I think it's very helpful to most of us in these crappy economic times, a way to keep your head up.
