A very weird twist in the vampire chronicles, a real life witch becoming a vampire? what the hell is going on in New Orleans? i like it because its different than the rest of them though!

Ann Rice revisits characters from her past efforts, as story lines from The Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witches momentarily merge then are eclipsed by new themes of voodoo and sensuality. It's not that Ms. Rice has lost any of her writing ability, indeed her descriptions of locales ranging from New Orleans to Central American jungles can almost make you sweat while enduring a New England winter; but finding a compelling plot line is becoming more and more of a problem.Merrick is a witch of …

Pros: Continues to weave the worlds of Anne Rice's characters together.     Cons: None if you are an Anne Rice fan.     The Bottom Line: Fun story, great further character development. Anne Rice's world becomes more and more fully fleshed.     Merrick is quite an interesting and compelling character. I find her a welcome addition to the world of Anne Rice's vampires and her Mayfair witches.      I am reminded of some …

Rice seems to have fallen prey to her publisher/public-demand, resulting in a series of inferior Vampire tales. But Rice has set her own standards. This current story, MERRICK, is an attempt to marry the Mayfair witches to the ageless Vampires.Enter Merrick Mayfair, who magically stuns any man who lays eyes on her fine self. However lush the praise, nothing in Merrick's character justifies …
