When I want a spy thriller, I reach for Daniel Silva. He might not always have it right when it comes to Russian/Soviet settings/characters, but his writing is interesting, gripping, and entertaining. In the case of "Moscow Sting", the writing is rough, at times borderline boring, and my attention is constantly being diverted by distractions, which I hardly notice when a book has me captivated. Author Dryden is a remarkably well informed insider, privy to the machinations of espionage and his hands- on-experience with the covert operations of moles and spies render this novel unusually powerful.
