When you read a young adult book where young girls are interested in the attentions of the most popular boys, talking about the last high school game, or taking part in your favorite school group like dance, you begin to remember or appreciate those times spent in school. Rarely, however, do events happen like they do in the weirdly wonderful My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent!     Take for instance when Kaylee and Emma were standing, cold and worried, that Emma's older sister …

Review courtesy of [...]    I have been wanting to read this series after getting a tantalizing glimpse into Rachel Vincent's popular Soul Screamers universe with her short story Binge (from the anthology Immortal: Love Stories With Bite). And after finishing MY SOUL TO TAKE, the acclaim is well deserved.    Kaylee and Nash are relatable, likeable characters. The other teenagers in this book are fairly stereotypical. Its not that I'm not still into vampires, werewolves, the Fey, witches...its just that it seems every time I turn around there's a NEW series or book or trilogy out dealing with one of the above. Technically the bean sidhe are part of the Fey, but when I say 'the Fey' I mean fairies. I grew up on tales of Underhill and Fairy rings and banshees …

Kaylee and Emma are underage but that doesn't keep them out of Taboo. Thanks to Emma's bar tending sister, Traci, they are able to sneak in the back door. While Emma is busy shaking her groove thing and stealing gulps of her new dance partners drinks, Kaylee has been spotted by Nash. Nash is a sexy senior from school and he's set his sights on Kaylee.    Dancing with Nash, Kaylee is in heaven. Until she sees a girl in the club and knows something is wrong. Then the screams come. …
