[...]    Literaphobia-The fear of reading bad books. I've suffered from that phobia ever since I got hooked on phonics a kid. But my fear was unfounded with Carrie Jones paranormal love story, Need. If Twilight and Wicked Lovely had a book baby, it would be Need.     Woods and werewolves and pixies...oh my!    Zara is hollow inside and has been ever since her dad died. Thinking a change of scenery will wake Zara out of her coma-like trance, …

Zara is my favorite type of protagonist: strong (but still has her moments of fear) and confidant in her abilities. She has her flaws, but she's a great character who really cares about others.     Nick is sexy, mysterious, and practically has all the girls' swooning. He's strong, amusing, and protective. At first, I thought his relationship with Zara was a little quick and unbelievable, but they won me over in the end. As for Zara's friends, I wanted a little more with them, …

When her father died, a part of Zara did too. Now she's just a walking shell, nothing like her old self. So her mother sends her to the small town of Bedford, Maine to live with her grandmother in the hopes that the change of scene will do her good. Zara can't help but feel mad at her mother for sending her away, despite how welcome everyone makes her feel. There's something creepy about Bedford...like the strange disappearances of young boys and the man who keeps following her, and how no one will …

A teenaged girl moves to an area of the U.S. with bad weather to live with a relative she loves but doesn't know well. Almost immediately she meets a really good looking guy who seems to want to hang out with her, but she can't figure out what's not right about him. There also seems to be someone stalking her, and did anyone notice that very large dog/wolf that came out of the woods? Thus is the set-up for...Need by Carrie Jones, a new entry into the young adult paranormal genre.    Obviously, …

Zara collects phobias the way other high school girls collect lipsticks. Little wonder, since life's been pretty rough so far. Her father left, her stepfather just died, and her mother's pretty much checked out. Now Zara's living with her grandmother in sleepy, cold Maine so that she stays "safe." Zara doesn't think she's in danger; she thinks her mother can't deal.    Wrong. Turns out that guy she sees everywhere, the one leaving trails of gold glitter, isn't a figment of her …

Since the recent death of her beloved stepfather, Zara has been accumulating phobias like some people collect stamps. She's pretty much afraid of everything. Zara's mother, worried for her, sends Zara to live with her grandmother, believing that Zara will be safer in that cold and isolated state of Maine. Zara is upset, she hats the cold and misses her home in Charleston. And then, there's also that mysterious guy that Zara keeps seeing everywhere, the one that leaves nothing but glittery gold dust …
