No plastic sleeves does a great job of encouraging the photographer to break out of the traditional portfolio mold. Use your creativity not only in your photos but also (or even more so) in their presentation. This is easier said than does, but I was incredibly impressed by how No Plastic Sleeves was able to provide so much creative inspiration without telling you, "This is how you should do it." I purchased my first DSLR camera (a Canon XSi/450D) some months back and enrolled in a photography class after I decided take up photography seriously. I have since taken thousands of pictures (most of them landscape, macro, and experimental shots). Some of the photos actually came out pretty descent. "No Plastic Sleeves" is one of those rare books that really exceeds my expectations. When it comes to books written for designers or photographers, I find that many are lacking. They either show too many pictures without any real in-depth studies and background or it's a text overload with not enough visuals. Not so with this book.
