This book really helped me get through a rough spot in my life. Rather that telling people to simply "get over" what's bothering them, Rabbi Kushner encourages people to have their moment before moving on. Kusher, in this book and his many others, comes from a place of sympathy and compassion. Given the fact that he unfortunately dealt with enormous tragedy within his own family, he truly understands that overcoming adversity or dealing with difficulty is something that does not just happen overnight. On the same note, Kushner encourages people to see adversity as a chance to grow stronger and increase their resiliency. His incorporation of Biblical sources, as well as his use of case studies really drives this point home
On a side note, Rabbi Kushner tours the country giving lectures on the topics of his books. I HIGHLY suggest attending one of his lectures. He has provided so much inspiration to me over the years and it was great to finally see him in person--he definitely lived up to my expectation of being a kind hearted, wise soul.
