The parody of "Star Trek" called "Star Blech" in this book demonstrates the sheer genius of the people at Mad magazine. The dialog is hilarious with enough similarities to scenes in the original series to make you mentally cross-reference the phrases with the Star Trek episodes. Other situations that are parodied are the movie "Hombre" starring Paul Newman, automobile safety features, the adjustments newly married couples must make, the verbiage of Dr. Seuss, dating and of course the Cold War in a spy vs. spy segment. Masters of dialog that has multiple meanings, the writers and artists of Mad are at the top of their game. To me, it is unfortunate that this kind of humor is now so rare, as swearing has taken the place of being clever and creative.
