If one were to draw up a prescription for writing children's books, it would surely include large doses of animal subjects. Children, as we know, are attracted to animals, especially young animals so Linda Newbery was on solid ground when she created Posy, a rambunctious little kitten.     An award winning author, Newbery lives in England with her husband and three cats.         Linda Newbery likes cats. In fact, she has written at least 4 other books about cats that I know of ("Cat Tales"), and Posy is her 5th (unless I've miscounted) and it is geared towards the youngest cat fanciers.    Her prose is lyrical and fun and here is a sample:    POSY!  She's a  whisker wiper,  crayon swiper.    Playful wrangler,  knitting tangler.    …
