"From this valley they say you are going...just remember the red river valley."

R.L. Stine is a household name in the teen horror genre and with "Red Rain" moves into the adult horror category to give his readers another another story with edge of seat suspense.

Travel writer Lea Sutter is at a small island off South Carolina. She learns that the island was destroyed by a hurricane in 1935 but was quickly rebuilt by the dead who came to life when the flood waters filled their graves and allowed the undead to rise above ground.

The island returned to normal except that the undead, with no eyes, rotting flesh and broken bones enjoyed sunlight and seemed almost normal. They continued to roam the island.

A new hurricane hits when Lea is there. Again many deaths and severe damage is everywhere. After the story, Lea sees two young boys who turn out to be twins. Wanting to do something to help, she adopts the twelve-year-old boys and brings them back to Long Island. Who would have imagined that soon after the boys arrived  with their unusual powers, Lea's husband Mark would be accused of two brutal murders?

This is a well written, nail biting novel with characters who are powerful, scary and just in time for Halloween.
