While this book still sparkles with the crispness and quality of the dialog and there is an adversary worthy of Spenser, the circumstances of the main crime and the resolution are a bit too extreme.    Gold digger extraordinaire Heidi Bradshaw has amassed a fortune through marrying and divorcing well several times and her daughter is about to be married. Robert B. Parker has published over fifty truly vibrant and clever books. Over half of them, like this one, have the private eye Spenser as its resourceful hero. Others include Jesse Stone novels and Sunny Randall novels and several Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch Wild West tales, as well as other books.   Parker has a unique style. This latest one in the series opens, as many do, with Spenser gazing out his office window at the women passing below on Berkeley Street. Middle of September finds the women starting to display the fall fashions, the Red Sox out of contention, and the sky grayish but not overcast.
