In preparation for a heritage field trip to Europe next year, lately I have been reading a lot of travel memoirs from the safety of my bed. One of my favorites so far has been Tony Hawks' Round Ireland with a Fridge. The premise is in the title; the man literally goes on vacation with a refrigerator after accepting a drunken bet that he could not hitchhike around Ireland with a large kitchen appliance. The author is a comedian whose writing is humorous and honest. This is a quick and funny read that will inspire you to grab a toaster and head to an Irish pub for a pint and a laugh. I am certainly looking forward to visiting Ireland even more now!
