Sad Cypress is a Hercule Poirot novel, but he is definitely not at the forefront of the story. He is asked to uncover facts that will save a young woman, Elinor Carlisle, from being convicted of the murder of her Aunt Laura and another young woman, Mary Gerrard. Both died from poisoning, and Elinor had a definite motive for the death of each.
