History of America in 1919 focusing on the problems of racism, lynching, government oppression of free speech, the "Red scare", and labor unrest, strains too hard to parable-ize the story for post 9/11 America. Just when you think that you know a bit about all of American history, a book such as this comes along and greatly adds to your knowledge. If you accept the author's point of view, 1919 may have been one of the scariest years in our nation's history.
