"Sick Puppy" is a story of greedy politicians and builders who are destroying Florida's natural beauty. It is packed with colorful characters and wacky incidents.    Twilly Spree is a wealthy environmentalist who notices a person despoiling Florida's landscape by throwing garbage out of his car window. To teach the man a lesson, Twilly waits until the man parks his convertable and enters a restaurant. Then Spree gets a garbage truck and fills the convertable with garbage.     …

Few writers of the thriller/mystery genre have the gift of humor. And even fewer have Carl Hiaasen's ability to craft sentence after sentence of dialogue and observations that can have you laughing aloud while one character physically abuses another. As insane as the storylines are in this book (and trust me, they are WHACKED!), they all work together to form a story that not only entertains but somehow worms its way into your heart as well. It is a laugh-out-loud, eye-opening, and even romantic paean to environmentalism and karmic retribution.When I finished and closed the book this morning, my eyes were slightly teary and I was giggling in pure joy.
