Like all Maeve Binchy stories, this is a masterpiece, with well developed believable characters and a deeply satisfying story. However, I find that this story also has a dark under current, which is a little different to her other books. But as a slice of life in modern Ireland, with characters you laugh and cry with, it is a fabulous read. And best of all, this book also gave me a good friend in another country - all the more reason to cherish it.
