Reactions to this book are likely to be strongly polarized; some people will love it and others hate it. It is a simple story of tragic love, with no profound insights or surprising twists. The story itself is genuinely moving, and I am not ashamed to admit to shedding a tear or two. I was given this book to read by someone who said I would enjoy it. Sure, I thought. But I decided to give it a go. The 1st half is poor - slow, almost amatuerish, but by the middle I was interested, and by the end I was in tears. When asked later if I liked it, I replied, "Oh I always enjoy a good cry!". So take it for what it's worth - it's not a great book, it might not even be a good book, but it's a lovely story, and excellent for an evening when you need a good cry!
