Must read for those in the media business - Taking a movie from concept to distribution

This book provides an overview of how the business side of television and motion picture industry works. It takes you through the process of production - from concept to financing the project and finally the distribution and marketing.

It is a great book for those new to this industry as they get a comprehensive overview of the business not easily found elsewhere. It is also a handy reference for an industry professional to understand some of the workings of the media business and how a revenue stream is created.

The insight into the process of how studios and networks make money through their business model will help aspiring film producers understand how to make money in this business. Film distribution has changed dramatically due to technology and the online section of the book gives a good overview of monetizing this source.

The perspectives from the industry insiders add weight to the content - from studios like Fox, MGM, Pixar etc and the television networks. Having been in the industry, I found it a comprehensive and fascinating break down of how a film goes from concept to distribution. This is sure to become the bible for understanding the business side of media industry.
