Thirteen year old Kyra Carlson resides with her family in a polygamist community. She loves her family unconditionally and has never questioned the fact that she has "three" mothers and 20 brothers and sisters with two more on the way. Although her sect is set with their strict way of living - Kyra has found a way of slipping out to visit the Mobile Library on Wheels where she reads forbidden books, or her meetings with the boy she hopes to choose for herself - instead of having a man chosen for …

From page one it was evident that The Chosen One was going to be a raw and brutally honest book. It takes us to a world that many of us don't even think about let alone live in and pulls us in so far that there is no way we could not be invested in Kyra's well being. It takes out all the stops and by the end you need to take a seat and regroup.    The Chosen One isn't something that can be "enjoyed" exactly but it was so powerful and intense that I couldn't get enough. This excellent novel of silent rebellion and the power of choice follows 13-year old Kyra, a young girl living in a polygamist cult that is growing ever more hostile to the outside world. After the prophet declares that God has chosen Kyra to become her 60 year-old uncle's sixth bride, Kyra is faced …

Thirteen-year-old Kyra has never really questioned the polygamous and isolated community she's grown up in. She isn't bothered by the facts that her father has multiple wives, she has twenty and counting siblings, or the compound is essentially ruled by a religious fanatic. Sure, she occasionally defies some of her community's laws when she sneaks away to read forbidden books borrowed from the Mobile Library on Wheels or spend time with the forbidden boy she loves. And everything is going just find …

Almost fourteen year old Kyra has lived her entire life as a Chosen One--a member of a religious polygamist group which has separated itself from the world with a fence and a lifestyle few understand. Kyra's family life includes a loving father, three mothers, and approximately eighteen brothers and sisters, and she's been raised to accept her own future as one of her husband's subservient wives. Though Kyra has a bit of a rebellious nature in that she slips out regularly to the mobile library to …
