Are you familiar with China Mieville's books and if so which is your favorite or what would you recommend to new readers of his novels?

Oh I have familiar with him and I think he is a mixed bad but there are some who think is a genius. I like some but not all of his books. My favorite novel of his is Perdido Street Station which is what some call "urban fantasy" set in the city of New Crobuzon (loosely London). That was a really fun read. I also liked The City and the City but I suspect it won't be to everyone's liking. I also liked Iron Council, kind of, and The Scar, kind of. I hated Kraken. He is certainly has a unique writing style but sometimes borders on the pretentious and bloated.

I personally didn't like Kraken (A Boy and His Squid?) but really enjoyed his earlier works. Also if you can find a copy of the story "The Tain" it is very good.

I read his City & the City and only started Kraken but didn't like either one. I should not judge Kraken since I didn't complete it. I'll check my library for The Tain. Thanks!

Good answer. I've only read The City & The City and did not care for it.
