The Crawly Caterpillar

  • Sep 4, 2008
I got The Crawly Caterpillar as a test. I liked the idea of a "touch and feel" book. It's natural, especially for little ones, to touch the illustrations so it makes sense to add texture to the pictures to add to the experience. My only concern was that there would be a lot of pop up features or that the touch and feel parts could be easily ripped out of the book. Even the best books are pretty useless if they fall apart quickly.

After reading The Crawly Caterpillar, I will now be more open to touch and feel books. The texture bits were well integrated into the pictures. There was only one pop up, at the end of the book. So far, this book and all its features are holding up to multiple readings and rough handling very well.

The story itself is classic. A little caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly.
