The Dark Highlander - Girls Love Bad Boys

Pros: Oodles of sexual tension, good premise

Cons: Would have liked more danger, less pondering

The Bottom Line: If you're feeling like something sexy with a Scot, time travel, and ancient evil involved, then here you go.

There are 13 dark Druids that lurk in the space between time.  And they are angry.  They have been imprisoned there for over four thousand years, devoid of everything.  That is, until Dageus MacKeltar moves through time on an errand that breaks the Compact between man and the immortal Tuatha Dè Danaan (fae folk).  His act allows all 13 dark ones into his soul, and now it's a fight to get them out or die.  He's lucky love is such a strong emotion...now if Chloe, the woman he met snooping around in his apartment, would love him back, he might just be able to save himself...

Is it just me, or is every dude in these books a big, brawny, big, rippling muscled - and did I mention big? - guy?  I know guys in romance books are supposed to be hot, but there's a difference between hot, and even smokin' hot, and friggin' perfect.  These highlander guys sound perfect.  I'm still trying to believe that they're going to have perfect white teeth in the 16th century.  I know Moning does research, but hell, I live in the 21st century and even I don't have perfect white teeth.  And there's nothing wrong with football player-sized guys - they're just not exactly my type.  But moving on.

This was another fun one.  Though Moning still does head hopping, I'm one of those people that doesn't really care.  She does it much less in this book than in some of her earlier ones, that's for sure, but it still happens from time to time.  The sexual tension between Chloe and Dageus is sizzling hot and after a while you're likely to start yelling at Chloe to do it with him already.  And, surprise, surprise, Chloe is also a virgin (they seem to be everywhere in Moning's books....).  But I do love how possessive Dageus (and all the Scottish guys in her books) get over their women.  That's hot.  Haha, sometimes it kind of makes you want to shove books like these at your man and say, "Here, read this and do some of that."

I like the concept, though most of the time you're just following around Chloe and Dageus as they ponder and think about each other and their respective problems, and then while they thumb through books trying to figure out how to save Dageus.  I would have liked to seen more of the Draghar sect and some more danger involved, but alas, we only get a taste of them before they're gone.

It's a good time.  Another solid romance book from Moning.  And it connects with the Fever Series I started with, if only a little, which was actually my main goal in reading this series.  At least now I know more about the MacKeltars...
