   Jeff Long's wonderful creation of a complete society existing right underneath us without us knowing is a fantastically told tale of horror, suspense, action and faith. The introductory chapters present a few of the characters and describe their first encounters with the otherworldly beings that live underground. I read "The Descent" quite a few years ago. I remembered being failry impressed with it as a high school reader. The other day, I decided to reread it. I wasn't as impressed as a more mature reader, but I certainly wasn't dissappointed.      "The Descent," unfortunately, fails to explain many of the important or curious parts of the expedition and adventure. The Descent by Jeff Long
This is one of the best horror books I've ever read in my entire lifetime.    I love being sucked into new worlds created by great authors, and this is one of them. This is the first Jeff Long book I have read, and I will be reading Year Zero soon.  Long's underground world and underground society are very well described in this book.
