Timothy Carrier is a man who keeps to himself and tries to live as simple a life as possible. Until one day when a man sits beside Timothy at a bar and passes him an envelope with ten thousand dollars and a picture of a beautiful woman named Linda Paquette. Timothy is intrigued by the woman but horrified to know the man has mistaken him for the contract killer he employed to murder her. When the killer later arrives and mistakes Timothy for the man who hired him, Timothy tells him the hit is off …

Tim Carrier sits down in his favorite bar to relax and enjoy the familiarity. A stranger sits down beside him, strikes up a weird conversation, and hands him an envelope. Here is the paragraph:    "In the downfall of golden light …

Although not as compelling as some of his classic tales of suspense and horror, "The Good Guy" boasts of two strong characters that instantaneously click under emergency conditions that require split-second decision making and twice as fast engagement. In Tim Carrier, Koontz deftly fashions the ultimate hero: decisive, intelligent, understated and very much in control. Chivalrously, …
