This sequel to Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency takes it to the next level! This time, Dirk has a brand new client who doesn’t blink at his high prices and strange expenses. However, when Dirk oversleeps and misses their first meeting, his client is decapitated! Dirk must discover much more than your average “who done it” protagonist. Why does his client believe that a green-eyed monster has been raving at him and waving a bit of paper? What has happened to his secretary? Who decides whether a song will become a hit? What will it take to get his cleaning lady to actually clean? What happens to gods when people stop believing in them? Dirk is accompanied in his quest by Kate, a New Yorker obsessed with getting pizza delivered in London. The two meet when Dirk, who is following Kate because she looks like she knows where she is going, hits her when she stops suddenly. They have to make connections between one-hit wonders, lawyers and Norse gods, before time runs out. They travel to Valhalla and attempt to unravel the conflict between Thor and his father, Odin. This refreshingly unconventional detective story is highly recommended to fans of mystery, mythology and music
