This is not a typical Louisa May Alcott story with all the mysteries but still a love story. I loved this story even though it was short. It was set like all the others in the early century. It kept me spellbound and wanting more. It starts off drawing you in and keeps you wanting more with each page. The story draws one in within the first page and keeps one reading and turning pages. It is about a rich older man and his lovely young wife who is expecting. Something happens and things turn tragic. Years pass and secrets are kept and not spoken, Few characters to keep up with so one doesn't get lost in the story or bored. Kept me quessing up to the very last and was totally surprised at the ending. I will read again!
