I know that story lines have changed, kids have changed, but we still have socs and greasers in every school.  We still have the prettiest girl and the bully.  I read this book when I was in the 8th grade over 29 years ago.  It was got me away from the Nancy Drew books.  Now 29 years later my children are reading it and they are getting the same message out of it that I did.  It was nice to actually have some mutual ground to discuss with my children and how it relates to …

This book "The outsiders" is about a small "youth-gang" called the Greasers. They have rival's call "Socs", they are a social "gang" pretty much jock's. I hate books with violence but I picked up this book because I was bored in school, and after 3 pages, I had to go home. I just HAD to ask my teacher to borrow it because I couldn't stop reading it, I finished it in one day. For a book that isn't my type, I thought it was amazing and detailed. The characters were like friends of mine and the neighborhood details was as if I had lived there all my life.

another one of my favorites. more up there than others though. most teenage boys can relate a lot to theses kids, even if its just in there head, they feel for them. the epic journey of two boys living alone isolated like that because of a system that would just see a "greaser", when all they did was defend themselves. i love this tale, dally is my favorite, stay gold.
