Training a parrot and modifying behavior is not hard, but does not seem to come naturally to most of us. Understanding how it works is a quick course in psychology and applied behavior analysis. There is no secret or magic to it and Heidenreich doesn't pretend to have any information not readily available to scientists who focus on behavior. It is simply understanding how behavior occurs, breaks down and can be shaped. Heidenreich does a wonderful job of explaining these basics and techniques for those of us who don't have an advanced degree in psychology.

Next up is figuring out how to read your bird's body language and to get your two-way communication going. Read the book and decide for yourself on the best ways to train and live with a parrot. You are likely to agree that punishment has no place in training a wild animal that the more positve the interactions, the stronger the relationship.

The Parrot Problem Solver is an excellent place to start changing the way you and your parrot relate and communicate.
