The author does an amazing job describing the nuances of his experience in this remote island (atoll) in the middle of the Equatorial Pacific. The cultural influences are immense and I feel as though the descriptions of the people and circumstances were thought provoking. It makes the reader appreciate their living conditions regardless of their amount of luxuries.
