There is one action scene after another in this thriller by David Baldacci.
Will Robie and Jessica Reel are summoned to a meeting with Amanda Marks the Deputy Director of the CIA. She tells them they there is an important mission they will be sent on but they have to qualify. This means physical challenges, mental torture including waterboarding and abuse. They get through it and then more action begins.
A second layer of the story is at a North Korean Gulag. A young Korean woman is being heavily abused by the Gulag commander. She submits to the abuse and when we're really feeling sorry for her, in a flash, she takes out the commander. Again and again this woman proves she's nothing short of a super hero. Her name is Chung-Cha.
An American project to replace the North Korean government with a more friendly leader falls apart and the members of this man's family end up in the Gulag. It is Robie and Reel's mission to save them.
The story continues with adventures in North Korea and back in Nantucket with the First Lady and her son and daughter. The children become fond of Robie and Reel and they are asked to accompany the First Lady on a mini vacation. Action continues...wow!
I listened to this story on an audio and it was terrific.
