I was not that impressed with The Time Traveler's Wife. Although I will give the author credit for originality on the story line and creativity to come up with an explanation of the existence of Time Travelers, the rest of the story I didn't care for. Call me conservative or prude or what have you, I'm not a big fan of the sexual scenes in the story. I felt like I was almost reading a romance novel with some of the scenes. They were very detailed and some were unrealistic. …

A cute love story but I did not feel very involved in it. Could be a good book to bring on the beach this summer

I get emotional when I talk about this book. It means so much to me.

Couldn't put it down. A little confusing at times, but an original storyline with a great plot.

The book and the movie alike are equally good!

I agree, this was a great book. Unfortunately it gets jammed into the sci-fi section of most bookstores (though not "unfortunately" if you stumbled across it there), when it merits attention in the front and center rows. Great writing, great tale, great twists. Left me wanting more.

Great book and great movie based on the book.

I like the book a lot better than the movie.

Unbelievable. I loved it. You have to get through the first 50 pages and then it gets better. It's hard to follow all the time-travel but you get used to it. The movie kills it, though.

The Time Traveler's Wife (movie poster)
I've been reading about how The Time Traveller's Wife was actually Audrey Niffenegger's first novel - she had originally intended it to be a graphic novel, but realised that it was hard to portray the concept of time travel in images.      It's actually quite amazing how she started out with quite a small novel, deliberately choosing a small publishing company (she attributes this to her older punk roots, which spurred her to go with the smaller, less corporate company) and then …

One of my all-time favorite books. A beauitful, emotional story that is complicated and well-written. A certain tear jerker.

In her debut novel, "The Time Traveler's Wife," Audrey Niffenegger has managed to create a unique work of fiction that transcends many traditional genres. Time travel is one of the most common science fiction tropes, and until I read this book I thought that I have already seen everything that can be done with it. However, by combining it with a drama and love story, and by making it a form of medical condition, Niffenegger has managed to breathe fresh life into this motif, and do it in such an …

Pros: Fast paced, unique use of time travel, beautiful descriptions of love and sexuality, incredible ending     Cons: None for me     The Bottom Line: An unforgettable love story combined with fun trips to visit previous and future decades in the lives of our lovebirds. The Time Traveler's Wife is one of my favorite books.           Did you ever have a dream that felt so real, yet when you thought about it later, you …

This is one of those books that keeps you up all night just so you can finish it.

Ok... I actually took a little humorous flak for reading a "chick lit" book... The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. True, I probably wouldn't have picked it up on my own, but it came recommended by someone who has a good track record in recommending books for me to read. And again they were right... I didn't see the novel as something that would only appeal to women. Yes, there is a strong romance undercurrent to the story, but the constant time traveling and event shifting made it highly …

I didn't write a review for this when I read it years ago but since the movie is coming out I felt it necessary to revisit my thoughts.    This was one of the best books I have ever read. The incredible organization needed by Audrey Niffenegger to keep the characters lives and paths in order is amazing. But while reading it, it was rarely difficult to keep track of things.     Every chapter began with clarification of what time frame each character was in …

I am not a science fiction reader, as a rule. I do like time travel stories though - I enjoyed Replay, for instance. I first read The Time Traveler's Wife a few years ago when a bookclub I was in wanted to read it. I read it again on my own several months later because I think it really is a book you get more from the second time you read it. 2 other bookclubs I'm in since them have read it, so this is my 4th time through.    I still count this as one of my favorite books. It …

One of the most touching books I've ever read. A page-turner that I did not want to end. Can't wait to see the movie!

Although it sounds bizarre, this book is truly amazing and is easily one of the best I've ever read.      Niffenegger gives us a whole different perspective on time travel with her story about a man who pops back and forth in time without any control over when or where he goes. While the story itself is fascinating and original, what really sets this apart are the characters. The love story that builds around the time traveler and his wife is disrupted by many of the usual things …
