When I received The Unofficial Guide: The Color Companion To Walt Disney World, I expected it to be chock full of pictures (which it is), and just a few tidbits of information for each feature of the park. Wow, was I wrong!      While first time visitors to the park might find it necessary to pick up The Unofficial Guide To Walt Disney World and/or Birnbaum's Official Guide To Disney World, this color companion sums up every aspect of Walt's big park very well. ...this is a great guide to the Magic Kingdom, FL. It is the right size to fit easily in a purse or backpack to take with you to Walt Disney World and the other attractions in Orlando. If you've already been there, the photos are nice 3rd person memories of your experiences there. The information is dated and I know that the Star Tours section is out of date as of this writing, but overall it is a good pocket compendium for the central FL theme parks. If you were to take the 880 page Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2010 book and narrow it down then this 384 page Color Companion to Walt Disney World is what you would get. It covers all the rides, restaurants, theme parks and resorts in fewer words. It might be good if you've been to Disney before and don't want to read the larger book.      However I personally prefer the larger book and I think it's better for first time visitors to Disney World. I'm a huge fan of the essential WDW planning tome,The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World 2010 (Unofficial Guides) having used it on two trips into "the World". I'm also an avid listener of the WDW Today podcast, which features co-host Len Testa, who is one of the co-authors of both the original guide and this color companion.
