Bloggers beware!

This is a well-written book by a first time published author. The plot concerns an "unsanctioned" (operation not under the orders or control of the government) program which is seeking out the anonymous bloggers the folks in charge of the program don't like, identifying them, and then....Into this mileau comes an Iraqi veteran and computer maven, who is working for this project at the behest of his boss, the ambassador to Thailand.

The more he works on this program, the more he feels that he is not being told everything about it, and specifically what happens to the bloggers he identifies. There are some very interesting conversations pro and con on the "limits' of free speech in the area of national security. As his investigation becomes more centralized, danger appears to not only him, but to his girlfriend back in Thailand.

The plot is a bit slow at times, but it really picks up toward the end and then races to a surprising conclusion, and then another surprising conclusion. All loose ends appear to be tied up without however resolving the free speech issue. Since I believe that's an ongoing battle being waged constantly in this country, I can understand why the author can't bring that problem to a solution; no one appears to be able to.

All in all this is a good read. Don't be put off by the slow beginning. Stick with the book and you will find that you enjoy it very much, as I did.
