I must admit that I was a bit surprised when I read this book; as several other reviewers have noted, there is much more here than meets the eye. This work begins like many other such books with the premise of two recently graduated young ladies (graduating from Brown in 1986), finding they have an itch for travel, adventure, and one last fling before they enter the real world of jobs, family and responsibility. This was the first book I've read by Susan Jane Gilman, and it certainly will not be the last. I started with the idea that this would be a somewhat amusing saga of two college-age women traveling the world with the expected pratfalls.
