What was the buzz about for the story called War Horse? A writer friend showed me the YouTube video from the Broadway play and then I saw that Steven Spielberg was directing a movie about the story to release Christmas Day 2011. I tracked down this book which was published in 1982 and in a page or two, I understood the reason for this word of mouth excitement.

Michael Morpurgo has written a riveting story told through the eyes of Joey, a war horse. This page turner book grips your heart from the opening and carries through to the last page. I highly recommend you read WAR HORSE and enjoy it as much as I did.
